ABOUT WTFFILM WTFFILM had an odd genesis, dating back to my freshman year of high school. We were provided with graphing calculators for the geometry class I took in the second semester. While other students busied themselves during the class with actually doing math-related work, I took to using the calculators finite display memory (1000 characters or so, if memory serves) to write capsule reviews of whatever odd crap I happened to be watching at the time. Most of the reviews involved harmless Japanese productions like BATTLE IN OUTER SPACE or ATTACK OF THE MONSTERS, but I remember doing write ups for the likes of Joe D'Amato's PORNO HOLOCAUST as well.

One has to wonder where my parents were in all of this. The answer is safely beyond my oft-locked bedroom door.

At the same time I was flagrantly wasting my compulsory education I was becoming more and more interested in the ways of graphics and web design. I started up a number of free pages via Angelfire (back in the days before it's user sites were so heavily padded with advertisements), dealing predominantly with the Japanese monster films I was obssessed with at that time. Later on I would become obssessed with Italian gore films, leading me to start two shortlived horror film sites entitled FLESHEATER (named after the UK release title of Fulci's ZOMBI) and TALES FROM THE CONTAMINATED CITY (after Lenzi's NIGHTMARE IN THE CONTAMINATED CITY).

I went on like this, marginally improving upon my writing and majorly improving on my graphics and web design skills, until my senior year in high school. It was then that Angelfire took to placing ads everywhere they could find the space to do so. Irritated with the notion of free hosting, I finally purchased the wtf-film domain and some cheap web space - the rest is certainly history. My interests have shifted considerably over the years, but the focus of wtf-film remains the same as always - to introduce whoever happens by to cinema beyond the mainstream.
